About Mightor Industries, Inc.

Mightor Industries was started in 2002 with the intention of bringing together several sites that all focused on different aspects of computer technology and its uses.  Not only is computer technology part of our work, it is also our hobby and passion.  The majority of our discussions are related to the computer itself, but will often times include how we use this technology in the media (related to music and video), in creating and editing digital art, and how to accomplish a variety of tasks.  With the advent of the smartphone, technology is even more integral to our lives.  The smartphone has brought the internet and its wide variety of applications to our fingertips, no matter where we are (as long as we have a decent signal, of course).  Our hope is to present you, the end user, with the information we’ve acquired and are still acquiring so that your computing experience can be enhanced.

Although we use and troubleshoot computer issues on a daily basis, we are not experts on every possible subject related to computing.  However, we do have access to a wide variety of information, as well as the ability to use the power of the internet to find solutions to common and uncommon problems, alike. If you’re having an issue, we’re here to help.

One of the coolest offerings at Mightor Industries is our community forum.  We encourage all of our readers to join into our discussions.  Registration is not required to participate, however it is encouraged.  The opportunities to participate in the discussions are posted throughout the site: on each site post (either through comments or through the Forum Discussion links at the top of every post), from the sidebar where Recent Forum Topics are displayed, or by clicking on the Forum tab at the top of each page.

If you choose to register with Mightor Industries and become a regular in our community forum, we offer a wide variety of registration options, including a unique username to the Mightor Industries site, as well as registering using existing accounts through Facebook, Twitter, Google and OpenID.

We are very open to feedback and encourage our users to let us know how we’re doing.  Feel free to contact us using the links in the sidebar (Contact Us) or by commenting in the forum (there’s a separate board in the forum for suggestions).  All suggestions will be responded to in a timely fashion (usually within 24 hours).

We hope your experience at Mightor Industries is a good one and hope to hear from you soon.  Welcome to Mightor Industries.

About the Staff

Tim (tcolvinMI):

Tim handles the majority of the site’s administrative functions, as well as contributing content to both the site and the forum.  When he’s not working (which isn’t often), he is usually reading up on the latest technology from a variety of sites around the web.  His other favorite hobby is figuring out how things work, with as much detail as possible.  Tim currently works as a Software Developer and Technical Support Rep for a software development company in NE Ohio.  He has a variety of different skills related to technical support (both hardware and software), software development and programming, web design and development, and can make one hell of a low-carb pizza (Tim is a diabetic, so carbs are a huge issue with him).  One of his favorite pieces of technology is his Kindle. His drink of choice is Pepsi Max and probably consumes way more of the stuff than he probably should.

His primary machine at home is a Dell XPS M1530, Intel Core2Duo 2.4GHz processor, 4GB DDR2 RAM, 500GB Western Digital Sata HDD, Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT mobile graphics card, running Windows 7 Pro x64.  Secondarily to that, he has a small file server (custom built with an Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, 160 GB Western Digital SATA HDD, 3TB Western Digital MyBook storage, Windows 7 Home Premium x32), an Acer Aspire netbook running Ubuntu 11.10.  Always with him is his Motorola DroidX, running Android 2.3.3.  When at home, he does the majority of his work on the site from the comfort of his recliner, where he has a small laptop table.  This setup comes complete with his laptop, cooling fan and 22″ LCD reside (along with an old Gateway USB keyboard and Logitech trackball mouse).

Greg (Gweg):

Greg’s also been into technology.  His dad bought the first family computer in 1994 (it was a 486/DX2 with 8MB of RAM), and the first thing Greg did was break it.  Of course, he had to quickly learn how to fix (with help from a phone call to Tim on how to run Scandisk).  Since then, Greg has enjoyed working and playing (and sometimes breaking) technology.  Greg provides the images for MI, as well as content (when time allows).  He also runs two other websites under MI: Mightor Publications (his original site) and 3-0 Studios (his site for art and photography).  On his down time, Greg is an active gamer, and when he’s feeling creative, he does a good amount of writing and drawing (although the drawing has almost been completely replaced by an interest in photography).  Greg works as a computer tech for a school district in SE Ohio, and also maintains and runs the technology department for a separate community school in the same district.  Just as Tim, Greg is also a big drinker of Pepsi Max.

Greg likes technology of all sorts (exception is Apple).  For quick access to information, he always carries his Blackberry, and when ideas or developments need done on the road, he uses his Motorola Xoom tablet.  At home, he has a collection of computers, from young to old, that all have their purpose, and have all been custom built.  His current powerhouse gaming rig is an AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition (3.2Ghz) with 8GB of Corsair Dominator DDR3 RAM, an XFX Radeon 5850 Black Edition video card, and an Asus Xonar DX 7.1 sound card, all held together on an Asus 790GX AM3 motherboard, with 2 Western Digital 500GB Black drives linked together in RAID 0 – all powered with a PC Power and Cooling 860W PSU.  He spends most evenings on this computer gaming, but when he’s not, he is usually relaxing and watching a DVD, BD, or movie from his HTPC on his 40″ Samsung LCD TV.
